What to blog about?

If you have decided to start a blog, what do you blog about?  First of all have a purpose or think of what you want to accomplish.  Do you want to share your thoughts about politics?  Do you have unique experiences to share?  Are you just a cool person? Think about what you want to share and save for posterity.  I have noticed that the successful blogs have something unique about them, offer something no one else does, and the blogger is passionate about the subjects.

Even with a purpose in mind, you may get bloggers block.  Below are some things I have observed and/or done that may give you ideas for posts.

  • Pick a day for a theme
    • Man of the Blogspere.  Previously the Empress had a Man of the Day.
    • Words for Your enjoyment:  Paul takes questions submitted by his readers and answers them.  He even answered one of mine!
    • Positive blogging Saturday:  Not sure where I saw this, but the idea was to only blog about positive stuff.

  • Content from other sites
  • Browse the internet
    • Other blogger sites:  Someone else may spark an idea
    • News.google.com:  Don’t just stick to the Top stories, click on the US, Business, Technology

Thanks to Uptown Girl for the idea for this post.

Disclaimer:  I do not consider myself a blogging expert by any means, so please take the suggestions with a grain of salt.

Next: It ain't easy being cheesy

thanks for the mention and links :)

I like your post because there are days I think we all need a little something to get our blog minds on.
