Rose Bowl - No. 6 Texas 38, No. 13 Michigan 37

As a Texas fan, this was not a fun game.  Some would say it was a good game, but that is only if you have no emotional investment in the outcome.  If we are going to win, I want to wup some butt!!!!

This game went back and forth and was won by us during the last 2 seconds.  We made a field goal to beat Michigan by 1 point.

Our special teams needs some work and our special teams coach needs to understand our limitations.  Michigan was able to score so much because on kickoff they were able to get the ball to the 50 yard line.  All but two time.  So, as a novice, I would have done something besides kicking to the receiver.  Maybe off sides and take the penalty?  Quite a few people in the stands, including my husband said we should have squibbed.  So I learned a new football term.  Squib means when you kick to the receiving team, you kicking it short on purpose or you don't kick where most teams do.  An official definition is here.

If Michigan had not started with the ball at the 50 yard line, our defense could have stopped them.  When you only have 50 years to get a touchdown, it makes it real easy to score.

More to come on the fun and pagentry of the game.  Also pictures!
